Stichting Donorkind komt op voor de belangen en rechten van donorkinderen.
Onaantastbaar uitgangspunt is het récht dat ieder mens heeft om zijn biologische afkomst te kennen.
Kinderen die verwekt zijn met behulp van een donor weten vaak niet wie deze donor is. Daarom weten zij voor de helft niet wie zij zelf zijn. Als ze verwekt zijn voor 2004 mogen ze dit ook niet weten van de wet en vaak hebben hun eigen ouders dit jaren voor hun geheim gehouden. Dit kan medische, sociale en psychische gevolgen hebben.
Stichting Donorkind organiseert:
- lobby om op te komen voor de juridische en maatschappelijke positie van donorkinderen, donoren en wensouders
- ontmoetingsdagen voor donorkinderen om te praten over hun bijzondere ervaringen
- ontmoetingsdagen voor donorkinderen en donoren om ervaringen en motivaties uit te wisselen
- voorlichting aan (wens)ouders die willen weten hoe tegemoet kunnen komen aan de behoefte om toch je eigen biologische familie te kennen.
- online community waar donorkinderen en donoren hun mening en ervaringen kunnen delen
- bekendheid van de Fiom KID-DNA databank waar donorkinderen met hun halfbroers en -zussen gematched kunnen worden en met de donor
